The Diamondback Sortie series is the quintessential trail bike. Responsive enough for challenging epic trail rides or those all day XC grinders, the Sortie dominates the singletrack. The Sortie is designed to strike a balance of agility and stability. It rides well at all speeds and is as nimble climbing up the mountain as it is stable descending. Years of product testing and refinement have gone into the Sortie’s platform. For 2013 we’ve continued to tinker with the rear triangle, making it stronger and stiffer than ever before. Put simply, the Sortie is a bike that’ll make you feel like you are cheating. Diamondback’s Design Philosophy is a no-nonsense approach to building quality bicycles. We want our bike designs to be straightforward: their hardware accessible and their suspension simple. 2013 Sortie frames are created from 6061-T6 Weapons Grade Aluminum and feature a hydroformed top tube, a butted and formed downtube and seatstays, an under arch seatstay bridge, a tapered headtube, a standard 9x135mm vertical drop out, and Diamondback’s legendary Knuckle Box Suspension technology. The Knuckle Box, or bell crank, is the core of our single-pivot four-bar suspension platform. Optimally placed pivots equate to a low leverage ratio, and ultimately to superior pedaling efficiency and small-bump compliance. This also allows the shock to work more efficiently and reduces pedal induced motion. It also reduces overall load on the system which will lead to improved shock and bearing life. Placing the Knuckle Box low within the frame, situates the greatest weight of the bike closer to the bottom bracket, which lowers the bike’s center of gravity and allows it to better track and corner.

Bike Picture is a more expensive bike than the one delivered...

The bike pictured on this site is the Diamondback Sortie Comp (Red) and is a more expensive bike than the one they will ship you (Black). These are two different bikes and Amazon appears to be doing a "Bait and Switch". I know this because it just happened to me! Go to the Diamondback website and see for yourself. AMAZON - this is highly unethical. I'm returning mine and using a different online company for this purchase.

you better be getting better quality parts and more of them for this kinda money!!!! just saying Holy Smokes!!!!!

Guys seriously!!! The parts on this bike are all on the low end side. You should be getting much more of a bike for this kind of money period! Also don't be fooled by big fancy words like aircraft grade aluminum. That's like putting perfume on a skunk and calling it an air freshening skunk. Its still has all the ingredients in it to be a skunk. I used to race diamondback's bmx bikes in the 80's when they were a good quality bike manufacturer but now they have even stooped low enough to sell their bikes at walmart. That should say it all right there boys and girls. You would be better off with a good quality bike from trek or specialized for that money. You may only get an entry level bike however at least right out of the gate your dealing with better quality parts and a quality frame which is the most important thing in the first place. Also you can then upgrade to better parts to create your own specifically designed beast. I hope this helps brothers and sisters. Peace ride on : ) Ps. I should include here that the XC32 rockshox that comes with this bike is the lower end of rockshox, however it really does well for what it is. Have a great day and once again ride on : )
